Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG

When was the last time an AMG made you think WOW? If we told you the Mercedes-Benz SL65 made 621 horsepower and 738 foot-pounds of torque, would that do it? With so many variants of the SL, it’s easy to pass them over without recognizing their grandeur. To put it in perspective, the SL65 is more expensive, has more cylinders and makes mounds more torque than the base Mercedes-Benz, the SLS flagship. The SL kind of looks like the SLS, too. But while the SLS is an iconic rebirth ready for the track, the SL is all grand-touring vehicle, eating up road miles as it cruises in the upper echelons of the speedometer. Its massive, 6.0-liter V-12 engine spools up a pair of exhaust-driven kompressors to create numbers worth an interjection-like reaction. Like all new SLs, it’s constructed entirely of aluminum to keep it light and nimble, a trait it shares with a few other cars, such as the Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi A8 and Tesla Model S. We know-WOW!
