Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe 2014
The costliest Rolls is one truly expensive car. It ranks up there with the super exotics, but Rolls-Royce affirms its level of class and prestige cannot be supplied at $300,000. It’s clearly directing that at rival Bentley, yet as much as a half-million-dollar car should offer only a courtly, stately air and be limited to the likes of royalty, the Drophead Coupe is by far the fun, informal Rolls-Royce. It demands sandals and a golfing shirt, early afternoon shopping on Rodeo Drive, and weekend yacht trips that begin on Thursday morning. Thank the yacht-inspired teak deck that stows the convertible top and the yacht-like locomotion from the 6.75-liter V-12 engine. After all, wind-blown hair is the least of your worries. You’re just looking for the perfect spot to stop, take in the views, and open up the picnic-ready trunk lid to create an impromptu table seat for two. Far from reality? Maybe so, but this is how your life appears when you’re rolling around in such an exquisite, expensive specimen.
